This has a love triangle, even though Nadine does seem to have a preference. However, I found her really annoying at times. She moaned a lot and did not seem to ask questions when she should have. If I was in her place I would have a least researched what I was seeing, but she did not do anything like that. She kept doubting herself. Then when she found someone to listen to her/believe what she was seeing, she only told and believed in part of what she saw! What! I mean some of it came true so why would she doubt that the other parts are not real. I hate females who are ment to be intellegent but act really dense! This is actual what put me off the book.
There are some twist and turns with action/adventure and some romance. I really liked the world the author built up. I found it interesting and different. I especially liked the acid rain and the huge bats and how everyone still go about their way.

I finished this in about nine hours, from start to finish. Seriously could not put it down before I was halfway through it. If I had started reading it later in the day, it would have been one that kept me up reading later than I should be.
What an interesting storyline. Very creative. Love the plot and the characters. Love all the twists and turns and adventure. While it frustrates you to read about the setbacks to the characters its nice to read something different. Truly a good book. Onto book two.
I picked this book up after reading a blurb somewhere and dove right in. I've been reading so much contemporary romance lately that it was nice to get back to my favorite genre--paranormal. This book actually is a blend of new adult/contemporary and paranormal, which I loved. NYU student, Nadine, lives in a post apocalyptic world where human sized bats attack people and plagues and disasters hit randomly. Nadine thinks she may be going crazy because of visions she's been having of a gorgeous guy named Victor. When she meets Victor in her lucid world, things start to get interesting. It gets crazy compelling when Micah shows up and now you have the potential love triangle. Nadine's visions are actually the telling of what led to the apocalyptic world she lives in and you find out that Victor and Micah are more than meets the eye. The romance is light and sweet, although it heats up a little toward the end.

This is the first book in what appears to be a trilogy. Miss Haygert's writing style is beyond fantastic. I was hooked from the start. She builds a vivid and realistic world. Her characters are all flawed but you love them despite that. One of the true tests for me with a book is how well I can connect with the characters and Nadine, Victor and Micah will stay with me for a long time. Loved, loved, loved and look forward to the next!
I loved this book! I loved all the characters and I really hope that by the end Nadine and Micah end up together! He’s obviously been in love with her since day one.
Great read, couldn't stop reading now about to read book2. Keep writing more books on Gods because they are really amazing. See you soon with another review☺☺☺☺☺😀😀😀😀😀 !!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice unique take on the post-apocalyptic genre. It was a bit slow at the start, making it difficult to get into the story. But once I managed to do that, it was an enjoyable read.
Honestly, I have no idea how to rate Destiny Gift. On one hand, there were many things I adored about the book. I loved the world building, the gods/goddesses and their society, and I liked the plot overall. With that being said, there were a few things that detracted from the experience, such as the Mary Sue main character and the awkward pacing of the relationship building throughout the book. Overall, I think this story has great potential, but it ultimately missed out on some key things. 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

The good
* A post-apocalyptic setting that isn't based on zombies or fallen angels (I think this is overdone and usually underwhelming)
* A unique society of gods/goddesses
* Generally fast-paced plot. It especially gets going somewhere around the 50 page point.
* A heroine who isn't a fighter but not a burden either.
* A heroine who doesn't totally destroy the villain in one go with her super awesome special powers.
* Some reasonable excuses for the numerous coincidences and oddly fast-paced relationship building or plot movement.
* Refreshing writing style that balances seriousness with sarcasm. A few well-placed curses to make it feel genuine to the age group.

The bad
* Nadine is a Mary Sue she's beautiful, she's talented (can sing better than a professional, according to one passage in the book), she's smart (at least enough to get a scholarship to NYU based on SAT scores alone), she gains the loyalty of minor characters within a few lines of dialogue, she has a special power that was given to her by a goddess, and when she insults a love interest or is rude to them, it's totally ok because she's special.
* The relationships were weird. I didn't like either of the guys that much and they felt kinda creepy at times (especially Micah). Nadine was on both of the guys back and forth throughout the second half of the book; it was starting to get ridiculous. I'm a very controlled person, so I find it hard to relate to a character who is so indecisive.
* The relationships were awkwardly-paced. One minute, there's little to no chemistry, then BAM they're all over each other. I also felt that the relationship picked up steam too quickly between Victor and Nadine. Slow and steady is more exciting and satisfying. Too fast like this and it feels like infatuation, not love.
* General lack of character depth or development.
This has a love triangle, even though Nadine does seem to have a preference. However, I found her really annoying at times. She moaned a lot and did not seem to ask questions when she should have. If I was in her place I would have a least researched what I was seeing, but she did not do anything like that. She kept doubting herself.
