I have been praising Dance in the Vampire Bund for quite some time now. And Seven Seas has a lot of my hard earned money as a result. However, there are times when the main story can be a bit convoluted and hard to follow. These side stories, both Memories of Sledge Hammer and Dive in the Vampire Bund, are much more straightforward and offer up a great set of characters in a wonder, action driven story. In the first volume, we learned how Seiji Hama and Reiko Gotoh first met and that Hama came to the rescue of a child, Elie, who as the daughter of a Colombian government official. That rescue attempt liberated Elie, but left Hama in the hands of a drug cartel. Finally, there is a religious group of vampire hunters who are out to kidnap Reiko, for reasons that we don't know, yet. In this volume, we learn that Hama was found by vampires working for Rozenmann after members of the cartel left him a torn, dismembered mess. They restored Hama's physical health, but for a price. Again, the extent of Hama's transformation and what it means for his relationship with Gotoh is still unknown. In addition, to these events, Elie, who is now 14, reappears vowing to become Hama's wife. Elie and Reiko know that each loves Hama, but don't know what to do about it. The volume ends with another cliffhanger where members of the religious vampire hunters have infiltrated the Bund and appear to be ready to attack Princess Mina and Gotoh. As typical with a Tamaki story, there is plenty of action and beautiful women to please regular fans. I can't wait for the third, and final, volume in this really captivating story. Another winner in a truly great manga series.Tags : Dance in the Vampire Bund, Vol. 2 [Nozomu Tamaki] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Dance in the Vampire Bund Vol 2 Nozomu Tamaki 9781933164816 Books Reviews
Perfect. Just like the other books in the set, everything was awesome. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The book arrived on time and very safely packaged. No corners were bent and no pages messed up during shipping.
Great book.
This series is great for those who like dark nitty-gritty fantasy stories, however, it does include several adult themes and even several nude scenes, so if you or the one you wish to purchase this for have any issues with that sort of thing turn back now. Otherwise it is a really well written fantasy story, and it looks great to boot
Tempers are flared when the reality of Mina Tepes's influence in the school comes to light early on in the beginning of this volume and each character is still trying to adjust to each other as they all learn what it is like to live in each other’s' world. Meanwhile the vampire rebellion is still boiling under the surface of everything else that is going on. The school becomes a fighting grounds as Mina and Akira ultimately clash and showing their true forms.
Sorry for not giving so much info on volume 1 of this series, but I will start on volume 2 and onward.
Not as good as the first five books because it is an in between leading up to the next part of the series of books. I just didn't find it as interesting and I was wanting to read more about the main characters and obviously the queen but it was more about other characters.
This installment (unlike the last one) had a huge amount of action going on. This was no filler manga, as the plot and characters progressed and learned truths that could shatter them all. We finally find out what happened on Akira's trip to Siberia and the flash backs are amazing. Mina is trying desperately hold on to Akira with both hands, but sometimes you just have to let the one you love go. We also find out more of who was behind the attack of the nanobots on Mina and we learn that the Bund isn't as secure as it should be.
All in all an exciting new volume that has me yet again checking the release date for volume 8.
I have been a huge fan of this series since I watched the anime based on the first five volumes of the story. This particular volume is one of my favorites. The basic plot of the series is that vampires, lead by Mina Tepes Queen of the Vampires, want to establish a homeland where they can coexist with humans. Werewolfs are the protectors of the royal family and Akira, a werewolf, is the love interest of Mina. At the end if volume 5, Mina is at Akria's hospital bedside as he recovers from fighting three assassins sent by the three royal pure blood clans to kill him. At the end if this volume, it is Akira who waits at Mina's hospital bed as she recovers from an attack by nanomachines, cell size machines designed to drive vampires insane. Compared to the previous volumes, there is not a lot of action in this one. There is, however, a lot of character development and the introduction of Angie Arvenanto, a wearwolf and close friend of Akria, who plays a key role in future volumes. We also see just how much Mina loves Akria and, in a dream sequence, how much she'd be willing to give up to have a normal life with him. One of the reasons that I like this volume so much is that it shows how powerful emotions can be conveyed to the reader only with pictures. At one point in the story, Angie has helped Akira reunite with his high school friend, Ryohei, who was alienated from Akira over his role in helping Mina and other vampires. After they reconcile, there is a sequence of pictures where Angie, Akira, and Yuki, a classmate of Akira's who also loves him, are standing together laughing, while Mina stands alone watching. The sadness of Mina at being excluded is displayed in just one picture. The willingness of the author, Nozomu Tamaki, to devote an entire volume to interpersonal relationships at the expense of intense action shows a level of confidence in the reader rarely seen in manga stories. The volume is sad, funny, and emotionally intense. A great read. I cannot praise this series enough and think that others well enjoy it as much as I do.
